BRIGHTON, UNITED KINGDOM

A Weekend in Brighton

I decided to head to London where I have friends whose air mattress I can sleep on for a while. This excursion to Brighton is my escape for the weekend, to give us all space in a one bed room flat in Russell Square.

On the Gatwick Express from London's Victoria Station, I catch a train headed southbound to Brighton. From my hotel room, is one of Brighton's iconic symbols - the zip-lining lighthouse station. (Maybe I'll do this activity)  My first night in town was a Thursday and I decided that I would take myself out on a dinner date. I found this amazing steak house called No. 32 on Duke Street which I highly recommend. Pictured is a sirloin steak, seared scallops with parsley and garlic butter, and a side salad -  and several glasses of red wine not pictured. The next morning I got up somewhat late and famished. So I headed to Bill's for breakfast. The last time I had an English breakfast was in Ireland, so I thought I would chase this up and see the comparison. I would it was on par, but the blood pudding was the start here with sunny side up eggs, beans, sausage, toast, and lets not forget a roasted tomato.

I decided to head to the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery for today's mental stimulation. One of the great highlights of today was the Museum of Transology. (As a gay man, I will have to admit that my lack of trans knowledge is lacking - and with no excuse -  so I'm glad I got to learn about their history, perception of society and in society, and the battle that my trans brother and sister face everyday).

Another  exhibit I enjoyed was by the artist Glyn Philpot 1884 - 1937. What captured my eye was his use of the same model in various mediums over the course of his career. The story behind this pairs relationship is out of chance but somehow I think there is more to the underline story that is untold.

This weekend excursion was brought on by my need to leave the city but also to see several friends that I met in Barcelona & Sitges. Thus far on my Unplanned Excursion, everyone I have met so far has just wonderful. I hope that they can remain friends as I travel the world. While I don't mention many in my writing you know who you are and  the time I have spent in your fair city, I hope I have done it justice.

Let's go back to the city and see where we go to next.
